Jonathan turns 10!!!!

I cannot believe another grandson has made it to double digits!!!  They grow up so fast.  He loves squirrels and when I saw this set of stamps from Inky Antics, I knew I had to have them just to make him a card.  Will probably never use them again so hope he likes it!  lol

I chose to make a swing card as I think he will enjoy the flipping of this poor squirrel.  This particular grandson enjoys life and just about everything about it.  He always finds ways to enjoy even the simplest of things like flipping this squirrel as fast as he can!  lol  I have made very few swing cards and do not think he has ever seen one so I am sure he will enjoy it.

First thing I did was search for a sketch that would work for me.  I found one from Sunday Sketch and Stamp that I thought would be perfect.  I hope it was okay to change the circle into a square.  Next came finding papers.  I think I went through every paper pad and drawer of paper I have and believe me I have way too much paper to even think about.  I finally found these scraps in a drawer so thought I would use them and am pleased with the outcome.

The images are colored with copics and colored pencils.  The colors are really off in the pictures.  They are so much brighter in real life and the basket is not yellow like it appears to be.  I think I spent the most time cutting out the little acorns and leaves.  I was beginning to think I would never get done!  lol The squirrels are popped for added dimension as well as the acorns.  The leaves are glued down the center then I folded the edges up.   I also inked all the edges with Chestnut Roan chalk as the final touch.  Yes, no stickles or sewing like most my creations!!!  Must be sick or something.  lol

Thanks to each of you for stopping by.  May God bless you always and in special ways!  hugs

Treats for Mom to give out

I saw these cute little mummies on Pinterest and decided to make some for my mother to hand out to the nursing staff (and who ever else she wants). They are just over an inch tall and about a half wide.  As you can see on Frankie, the Hersey nugget fills them.  I hope it is okay with the home mom lives in for her to give treats out.  Guess I need to check with them!  lol  Any way, I used a SU punch for the boxes.  The mummies are then just inked strips of paper glued.  The eyes are two different sized circle hand punches.  Frankie has the same eyes as the mummies only the reverse side.  They are actually a pale green although they look white in the picture. His hair is handuct strips of paper.  I drew the rest of his face on as well as the faces on the pumpkins.  The green leaves on the pumpkins are another little hand punch.  Thanks for stopping buy.  God bless each of you and hugs.

Sister Birthday Card

This card is for a very special lady that really is not my sister in the blood sense but my sister in every other way.  She is one of my very best friends and I love her more than I could possibly love her if she were blood.  I hope she likes this little showing of my feelings towards her for her birthday.

I first found the sketch from Sketch N Stash and then chose my stamp.  I love this cutie from Bildmalarna holding the heart.  I crop with a couple ladies each week and we had a challenge where each lady brought something that had to be used on our creation.  One lady brought a button, one flowers and one a little paper pad where we had to use two different patterned papers.  The small cream flower is the one I used from the lady.  I actually had three of them but they disappeared off my desk one at a time.  My grandson and I searched everywhere for them.  I just could not figure out where they went.  Well as I was starting to work on said project, Charlie, my pain in the behind cat, jumped up and grabbed my last little cream flower and ran off.  I chased him down and rescued the poor flower.  I can almost bet where the other two are now!  Anyway, due to missing items, I had to dig thru my punches until I found the closest I had and punched me out a few more flowers.  Dug through some more old stash until I found some golden rhinestones for the centers.  Now on to pick the papers.  I just laid my image on each paper in the pad and found the ones I thought she looked best on and used those two. The lace border is a die from Magnolia and the sentiment is a stamp and die from Whimsy.  The ribbon was a small piece of leftover at the bottom of my ribbon bag. The greenery is a MS punch.  Stitching, inking and a little stickles and I called it done.

Thank you all for stopping by.  May God watch over you and keep you safe.

Thinking of you card for Dorothy

My dear son in law lost his grand father this month.  His grandma is a real sweetheart and my heart breaks for her.  She had endured many trials this year and now is without the man she was married to for 67 years.  I wanted to just let her know I was thinking about her and that she will remain in my prayers, so I made this plain little card.  I do hope it brings her a little joy in all her sorrow.

Three nurses where my mother resides, and I meet once a week to scrap and share ideas.  We decided we would try doing a few challenges just for fun too so I found a sketch from Mojo Monday celebrating their 300th sketch.  None of the ladies had ever done a sketch and I really thought this would be a wonderful one for a first.  And it turned out to be great.  Their creations were wonderful.

Anyway, this is what I made from the sketch.  I chose the pink and green because they are one of my favorite color combos to scrap with.  I don't get to use pink too often when scrapping for the nine grand sons!   I inked and sewed edges.  I am not sure where the main sentiment is from but the circle sentiment is from Clear Dollar.....am so sad to see them closing.  I used my good old nesties for the circle around it. The leaves are also a Spellbinder die. The papers are all just scraps out of my little (big) scrap stash.

I do not usually post the inside of my cards but thought I would this time.  It is fairly plain also.  The sentiment is from Clear Dollar.  I am so glad I bought the stamps before they went digi and now out of business. :-(

Thank you so much for stopping by.  Hugs to all and may God watch over you and keep you safe.

Altered tin can

I cannot believe it has been almost six months since I have been able to scrap anything.  I decided that it was time to force myself to get back among the  living and start doing what I love to do.  I have a small challenge group and figured the best way to motivate me may be to challenge them!  I posted 7 challenges for them to do this month.  The first challenge was to alter something.  I had used a small can of tuna one day and thought that would be good to alter.  The more I looked at it the more I thought it was too small as I decided to make a mini album to go in it.  So, off to the grocery store I went and found a chicken can that I thought would be just the right size.  I was talking on the phone to my niece as I shopped and when I told her where I was and that I was searching for something to alter, she just laughed at me.  I think she will be surprised with what I chose and how it came out.  lol

The item as purchased:

The finished item after I had a little fun with it.:
Spray painting the can black was the first choice I made.  I wanted to make a Christmas themed item so chose the papers from an older  Daisy Ds pad.  I then chose the stamp I wanted to use......this cute one from Bildmalarna.  I just love their stamps and think they have the sweetest little faces.  The lace border is from a Magnolia die and the sentiment stamp is also Bildmalarna.  I inked all the edges with chestnut roan Color box ink.  The pearls, ribbon and flowers are just out of old stash.

Upon lifting the top off, you will find a little drop down coaster album. A good friend, Alana, sent me some coasters many years ago and am finally getting a few used.  I covered each with black cardstock and then decorated with patterned papers.  After using  my crop a dile to punch holes, I  chained each to the other.  They fold accordion style to fit in the can.

Page one is the bottom of the lid.

I used the nesties die for the scalloped pocket and Magnolia dies for the tags.  A little red stickles around the edges and yellow stickles in the flower centes finished this page off.

 Page 2:

This is a very simple page.  I used a couple red flowers along with a couple punched vine leaves to top the plain square photo mat.  The sentiment stamp as well as the die cut for it is from Whimsy.  Again a little stickles finished this page.

Page 3

This page is a little fold out matchbook type mat.  The snowman stamp is from Studio G.  The sentiment stamp is just a random one I have and have no idea what company.  The little holly leaves on this page as well as on page two, come from a border punch from Fiskars.  Velcro hold the flaps shut.

Page 4:

Another simple page using a Nesties die and another Fiskars border punch. The red pearls finished this page.   I am still trying to use lots of stash and tools I have had forever that have been neglected.  I will never be able to even make a dent in my room but feel better knowing some are finally getting used!

Page 5:

Another little fold out mat for this last page.  I think I may add a few more decorations and still need to finish the back pages.

Thank you all for stopping by.  I am hoping  to be back into the scrapping world again without any major disruptions.  God bless each of you and many hugs to all.

Mini album Envelope book

One of the facebook groups I am in was holding a fun little challenge.  Two of us in the group were to make mini albums including items sent to us by 8 other ladies.  This is the book that I created to fulfill this challenge.  We have both finished our books so we put the names of the 8 contributors in a drawing and two won the albums.  I was very pleased to see my niece won mine!  She seemed very excited when I called to let her know who the two winners were.  I do apologize for such a long post but wanted to get all the photos in for you to see.

This project is also way out of my comfort zone!  I love the antique looking projects but have never felt I could do justice to one. I am sure I have a long way to go and a lot to learn but this was fun. I used so many things that I purchased years ago and just was not brave enough to use.  I tried new things as the hinged binding as well as other techniques. This album was a new experience in so many ways but I do like the outcome for my first attempt at something like this.   All edges in this album have been inked in brown Chalk from ColorBox and a lot have been sewn around.  I had a lot of fun using everyone's items.  It was a great challenge!

This is the front cover.  The beaded spray, large white flower and some of the brown leaves were sent in by one of the ladies.  I used MS butterfly punch for the little critters.  They are punched out of the same paper as the cover.  I then inked them in brown and gave them a coating of Glossy Accents.  When they were dry I inked them again in copper.  The lacy edge is from a Magnolia border die.  I really like the pattern it is.

This is the first pages.  One lady sent two large flowers and I could not decide just what to do with them until  my friend, Lyn, told me to just use them as a page.  This album is created from envelopes so I  glued a plastic scalloped circle to the flaps and then added the two large flowers.  The stamped images are from another wonderful lady that sent us a set of CTMY stamps.
This shows the drop down album and the tag lifts out of the pocket.

This is the flower page 2.
I added a tiny circle album as the center of the flower.  It is held on with magnets.  The other side of the circle album has two flowered with a green center.
On this page I used some mesh, papers, beads and a small clipboard that was sent in.  These pages are made form cards so they also unfold from the center.

This is the small mini album that sits under the heart.
 Back of mini album.
This page consists of some papers one of the ladies sent as well as the circle paper clip.  The lacy jute ribbon was sent in by another lady.

There are two pull out tags as shown here.  The smaller one is obvious but the larger one hides itself well on the page.

I was running out of ideas by the time I got to this page so it is fairly plain Jane.
The flaps do lift to expose pull out tags.  They are held shut with magnets.
This page contains another mini clipboard from the lady that sent the other one!
This photo shows the tag album opened.  Again you can see the stamped images from the set of stamps I received.
This shows the pull out album from the second page.
Reverse side of pull out tag.
Here is the little pull out album from the clear pocket.
Coming to the end is this set of pages.  The rose paper and butterfly ribbon were sent to me to use.  The key and lock are some from my old old old stash.  The frame on the bottom of the green half page is a Spellbinder die that I cut out of brown cardstock and inked the edges in black.  I then applied a layer of glossy accents.  When it had dried completely, I inked it in copper.

On the top of the green half page is a sticker I received.  The two frames are from Spellbinders dies.
Mini album out of the pocket.
I used Kathy Orta's hinge binding tutorial for this book.  Since it turned out quite thick I wasn't sure how to decorate the spine.  I played with some twine and finally ended with this.  The twine also seems to hold the hinges tighter against the spine so pages are not sneaking their noses out the front.  lol  I used quite a few charms and a MS butterfly punch..
On the front of the album are three charms hooked on to the pull out tab.  I love the tiny purse one  and knew I needed to use it somehow on this book.  It measures 3/4 inch by 1/2 inch.
Yes, I just had to make a tiny book to make it's home in this purse charm!
Just another photo showing the spine charms a little better but the coloring is off.

Thank you all so much for stopping by.  May God be with you all!

One for the girls FF challenge #58!

This fortnight at Forever Friends, our challenge is "one for the girls"! Our sponsor for this challenge is Saturated Canary.   I won some wonderful FF stickers and wanted to use one for this card.  Thanks Diane!     I made this Easter card for my Mother-in-law and hope it may give her a smile while she is convalescing from shoulder surgery.  I also belong to a small private group on facebook and this card will fulfill a challenge posted there.  We were to use the sketch provided and the color purple somewhere on our creation.  The papers are from one of the  LOTV NitWit collections.  I just love their papers.   I inked the edges as well as sewed them.  I used a MS punch for the heart border. The sentiment stamp is from Studio G and the shape is a die from Whimsy.  "Mom" is from a Quickutz die set.  The image is popped for added demension.  The little heart charm is out of some old old stash of charms.  The flowers are also some that I have had since the beginning of my scapping life.   The leaves are from a punch.  Added some pearl hearts and some stickles and called it done.  lol  Please come a play along with us at Forever Friends!!!

Thank you for stopping by and may God always watch over you.  Hugs.

Forever Friends shaped card

Over at Forever Friends this fortnight we have a fun challenge to make shaped cards.  I decided to make this little step card for one of my grandsons whose birthday is next month.  He likes Pokemon so when chosing a stamp from our sponsor, Kenny K, this little fellow was perfect.  I used my nesties to but the circles for the PokeBall.  I cut his name out with my Cricut.  Another grandson that is also into Pokemon donated a few cards that he had several of and "were not worth anything" to my cause.  His brother loves Pokemon and has a birthday coming up in April so I will be making another card of this type I am sure.  I colored the image with copics.  The ball is paper pieced with the center popped.  The sentiment stamp is from Studio G.  I added stickles for a little more dimension.  I think both grandsons will like their cards with this little image......at least I hope!  lol  Thanks for stopping by and may God watch over you and yours always.

Bears for Forever Friends #56

At Forever Friends this fortnight, our challenge is bears!  We are being sponsored by Bugaboo  and I chose this darling Birthday Bear image to use.  I also stamped the balloons from a Popcorn Bear stamp set and fussy cut them.  I colored with copics and highlighted the words with stickles.  The papers are from my scrap drawer from paper that I bought years ago when I first started scrapping.  I thought the two worked well with this theme and image.  The little sunshine charm is from an old stash of charms that I had ordered years ago and have never used any of them.  The little Birthday sentiment is from Whimsy.  I made this for one of the grandsons who will be having a birthday in the next couple months.  I have 6 grandsons that all have birthdays in the next couple months so want to get a jump start on them.  Thanks so much for stopping by.  Please come and join us for such a great challenge at Forever Friends!

Card for Michael

I am finally making another card for my dear brother!  I wanted to send him flowers or something to let him know I was thinking of him.  Barb told me that he said he didn't want flowers,  balloons or a stuffed animal and for me to send nothing!  Well, I decided I would send all three on a card.  I picked this little Popcorn Bear stamp because of all the balloons he is holding.  With the balloons and the bear, I have covered two of the three "do not send" items.  I will work on the flower thing with a future card or project for him.  lol  The patterned papers are from my new pad I bought from LOTV.  I really love their papers!   I inked and sewed the edges.  The little banners are from a Whimsy die and glued to some homemade twine.  The circles for the sentiment are from Quikutz and the sentiment is from Clear Dollar stamps. I fussy cut around the bear and balloons and then popped  him off the ovals cut from Spellbinder dies.   I think my brother will get a kick out of this card.  At least I hope it will lift his spirits while he is in the hospital.  Thanks so much for stopping by.  Hugs to all and God bless.
